Many architects are cultural figures, whose refined design sensibilities and individual personae have garnered public attention far and wide, in turn elevating their status to that of celebrities. This heightened interest in the profession more generally provides a moment to seize an alternative career path for the profession, where the architect develops into a new type of public intellectual.
