The Wanderer Paintings is the first monograph dedicated to the painting practice of Belgian artist Nel Aerts (b.1978).
Her distinctly figurative work is often populated by tragicomic figures rendered in simple lines and blocks of colour. They function as masks that the artist intentionally uses to reveal or precisely to conceal her own person.
The book contains reference images that contextualize Aerts’ work and a catalogue raisonné of her paintings from 2011 to 2019.
